Immigrant Interior

Private house

Project description

What happens when an architect from Eastern Europe moves to America? A unique dialogue between cultures, habits, and architectural thinking begins to take shape.

The interior layout reflects this fusion clearly. American ideas of spaciousness and comfort are combined with a more restrained, familiar way of living. Everything here is designed for everyday ease. Large kitchen plays a central role, as it often defines the true value of a home. The dining table naturally follows, and opposite it, a carefully composed console creates a focal point for art, greeting you the moment you enter.

The interior continues the architectural language of the exterior. In the living room, the key feature is a gabion wall, echoing the material used outside. It is a bold and slightly brutal element, yet it adds depth, character, and a strong sense of continuity between inside and out. Natural materials dominate the space. Wood, gray stone tile, and veneered surfaces create a calm, grounded atmosphere. This interior is not about luxury brands or excess. Instead, it is built on a rational, eco-conscious approach. We call this concept natural minimalism.

There is a deliberate balance between sustainability and cost. Most of the furniture is custom-made, likely crafted and brought from Eastern Europe, allowing for quality, individuality, and thoughtful use of materials without unnecessary extravagance.

The house is carefully positioned within its surroundings. From this exact angle, tall trees on both sides act as natural frames, guiding how the architecture settles into the landscape. The interior becomes an extension of this idea, calm, honest, and deeply connected to its environment.

This is a home where functionality, material integrity, and atmosphere come together effortlessly, shaped by experience, context, and a clear architectural vision.
