While working on this project, our primary goal was to find a solution for a long, narrow plot that would accommodate a large house without creating a sense of confinement, while still ensuring privacy.
Instead of a single elongated volume, we divided the house into several sections arranged around a large central courtyard. This approach allowed us to separate different aspects of family life while maintaining visual and functional connections between them. The courtyard became the central unifying space—a place for socializing, relaxation, and outdoor living.
We also paid special attention to the site boundaries. The facades facing the neighbors were intentionally designed to be more closed off, effectively turning the architecture into an extension of the perimeter fencing. As one moves deeper into the site, the level of openness shifts, allowing public areas to engage with the courtyard and the surrounding landscape.
To provide additional screening, we incorporated a "veil" of hollow ceramic blocks into the composition. This element preserves privacy without blocking light, while simultaneously adding depth to the facades and creating a striking interplay of light and shadow.
The project was developed for ATERA as part of the Papushevo Park complex, a development that combines the comfort of seclusion with a distinctive architectural identity.
